Structure and characteristics of large ethylene cryogenic full capacity tank


Ethylene liquid is stored in the inner tank (main container) of the full capacity tank, and the outer tank (secondary container) is used to contain evaporated gas and cold insulation materials. When the inner tank leaks, the outer tank can store part of the ethylene liquid effectively. The inner and outer tanks are flat bottomed and cylindrical metal tanks. The inner tank top is of suspended ceiling type and is suspended on the outer tank vault support structure through suspenders. The outer tank top is a spherical vault and the top support structure is a ribbed annular grid. The ethylene storage tank foundation adopts concrete elevated bearing platform structure.


The flat bottomed cylindrical bimetal full tank structure is adopted. The main design standards of full tank are api620-2018 design and construction of large welded low pressure storage tank and the buyer's document requirements; The tank structure adopts the following forms:


Double layer metal wall, flat bottom, inner suspended roof, outer arch roof, vertical cylinder and full containment structure, which are composed of main container, secondary container, bottom insulation, interlayer insulation, ceiling insulation, steel structure on the top of storage tank, tower ladder, equipment valves, electrical instruments and foundation platform.


The suspended ceiling structure of bimetallic full capacity tank has the following advantages:


① The full capacity tank structure ensures that in case of leakage of the inner tank, the outer tank can effectively store part of the ethylene liquid, and the evaporated gas can be recovered or sent to the flare through the recovery pipeline.


② According to the specification, the fire prevention distance of full tank structure is the least and the land utilization rate is high.


③ The internal positive pressure and interlayer vacuum load need not be considered in the design of the inner tank. In case of overpressure or vacuum accident, the inner tank will not be affected, and the safety is higher.


④ The pipe compensation in the interlayer does not need to be considered for the connection of ceiling structure. For the inner tank with dome structure, both ends of the pipeline are fixedly connected with the inner tank and the outer tank respectively, while for the suspended ceiling tank, only one end of the pipeline is fixed on the top of the outer tank, and the other end can expand and contract freely.
